Brooke Johnson

Brooke possesses a high degree of motivation, energy and drive. Growing up she loved to run fast and push herself to her limits on hardwood courts, soccer fields and the track. She competed at the national level in both track (800m) and varsity basketball. However, injuries smashed her track dreams and she was left heartbroken, depressed and anxious. This is when her Mom gave her a yoga VHS tape, Ali MacGraw’s Yoga Mind & Body with yoga master Erich Shiffmann. She began to slowly come out of the fog of her loss and began to look forward to her future. Over the next decade she would sporadically weave yoga into her training and maintained a deep level of respect for the practice.

Chronic swelling in her knee forced her to reluctantly explore gentler fitness options for her body. After driving past MYSJ for months, in June of 2013 she took her first class with Steve. She then made a deal with herself that she would practice yoga exclusively for one year to see if it would alleviate her pain and she hasn’t looked back since. Not only did it heal her body and restore physical balance, but her mind shifted as well. She began to break old harmful thought patterns and she was able to show kindness, patience and love to herself and others.

Originally from Milton, Ontario, she moved to Newfoundland to join her partner Jarrod in 2010. Having spent most of her career in corporate sales for various industries, she decided to leave the rat race and dive deeper into yoga. She had no idea how much it would light her soul on fire! She loves being of service to others and tapping into the infinite love that comes from this ancient tradition. Love is a renewable resource and she has plenty to give! Brooke completed her 300-hour Moksha Teacher training in Nicaragua between January – February, 2016. Brooke’s classes focus on strength, breath, balance, smiling and inner dialogue. She is a lover of nature, adventure, music, food, coffee, beer, hugs, laughter, learning, hiking, biking, skiing, photography and she cherishes her time with family and friends.
